Stuck on "classpnp.sys".

A while ago (February 10th) the system was suddenly hanging on "Classpnp.sys. No bluescreen, just when it startup.
After trying out many things (including turning off apic ahci support, and enabling Plug and Play O / S) showed a disk check also found hanging. To exclude a cause, all disks are replaced and the RAID array recreated.
Then at February 24th the OS reinstalled, drivers and updates. Nothing wrong, until the next day: again hang on Classpnp.sys.
I've turned on verbose boot, and I see him going through. The Classpnp.sys: he rattles at the top of the screen as colored lines he wants to boot, and then stops again..
The funny thing is the HDD LED blinks first, but then suddenly changes: it's illuminated, and he flashes with activity (like turned around compared to normal activity). Bottom of the screen says "Please Wait ..."
In safe mode it will not boot. System and boot repair is not 2008, so I am quite sad...
It gives various opinions, but most are related to a BSOD and / or a hotfix for Windows 2000.
If I now disable the ahci apic, no boot at all. It starts automatic the recovery environment, but it falls off without notice.
The trouble is, it has worked in the past! : (.
1. I suspect even the most recent Microsoft update may have something to do, but how do I get it now again?
2. It is only a presumption .. Advice is welcome.
Edit:
PS: I'll have this problem often with Windows 7, not to 2008R2, but since that same structure solutions seem to me reasonably transferable.
Edit2:
Quote:
You Have an unsigned / Incompatible driver / hardware issue That wont let go Any Further 7. Usually the biggest complaint give creative there. If You Have a creative card pull it from the MoBo and see if it boots.
How do I find the culprit? And how can I fix it? After installing the drivers the system worked very well. Safe mode does not succeed.
Edit3:
Quote:
After installing the newest update, Windows would not boot and Kept hanging at bootup screen.
Edit 4:
In MS forums was advised to use XP's version. If I do, I come automatically in the recovery area. 2k8 because it can not automatically, I can not.
I use the version of Win 7 Ent., Then I have the same problem.------------------------------------------------ -----------------
PLEASE ADVICE!
Latest edit:
I've tried to perform "sfc /scannow", but it says "There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again". It keeps giving this error..

Thanks.
Looks good, but how can I install it when I cannot enter Windows? It seems it needs to be installed, right?

True statement. You may need to call Microsoft product support for assistance or start a clean clean install.

Hi,
You may try disabling the signature requirement for the current boot process to see whether you can start the computer.
1. Restart the computer and during startup, press F8.
2. Select Advanced Boot Options.
3. Select Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.
4. Boot into Windows.
If the computer still hangs on this file, please understand that to troubleshoot this kind of issues, we usually need to perform debugging. However, in this forum,
we do not provide debugging support. If you would like to perform debugging, please contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS).

Hi EagleCreek. I will second you on your suspecion that the source fo the problem might be a recent windows update. My scenario is very similar to yours. I have a Dell T410 loaded with W2K08 R2. All went well when I installed the OS, configured my server,
created a domain, loaded apps, services, roles and the whole shebang. All this was done on a Trial Version of the W2K08 R2.
Last night, I changed the product key and activated the OS. It went well. Then I installed on last role to setup DFS. I did not configure the role. And I left the server. Then I discovered a problem when I tried to VPN my way in to the server
remotely. Could not. Chcked it onsite and it had rebooted itself in to System Recovery mode. All my RAID settings, configs and drives were fine. Upon rebooting the OS in Normal mode, I discovered a BSOD quick flash that vanished quickly. Did memory check.
Everything was fine. Then tried to reboot in Safe mode, which hang up on Calsspnp.sys driver load.
I am now trying to locate a *.dmp file to read the dump message. My experience tells me it has to do with a driver update that Windows Server Autoupdated, which is causing the problem. But I will not act on a hunch because I am dealing with a Server.
I have spent tens of hours configuring it and I must be patient in resolving this matter.
I will post if I solve it and will explain my discovery and troubleshooting method. If you don't try, you won't resolve whatever

Hi Tim,
You are trying to provide a generic response to a slightly complicated issue. EagleCreek is clearly experiencing a severe case of a BOSD problem, which does not allow him from botting in safe mode. Disabling Driver Signature Enforcements does not address
the issue of a driver corruption, or change caused by Windows Update. For example, Windows WSUS does sign its own drivers which it batches in its WSUS servers. Naturally, they is a Exception routing and signature validator that lets these drivers pass.
At any rate, EagleCreek's problem can be markedly dealt with if 1) he can locate the dump file where the offending device driver may be pointed out, 2) If you can explain what Classpnp.sys does and if it there is a away to circumvent the loading of the driver.
Please assume that one has exhusted all the generic solutions listed During Windows Startup like "Last Known Good Configuration LKGC, or one of the other listed items. If you exhaust all these options and you still cannot boot in to safe mode, or dont know
where to locate and decipher dump file info, then what do you do?
FIANLLY, LET ME RANT. I am particularly dissapointed by Microsoft, which seems to have spent millions of man hours trying to revamp the OS code for all Server Roles to perform super duper networking services, but neglect to include a simple and intuitive
utility that gathers valuable information during boot up, detects problems, and generates a printable report that one can review to fix a Windows OS Startup problem. Now, how can that be difficult for crying out loud for a company that has spent billions of
man hours writing codes in the past 25 years? I mean a utility that checks the loading of every driver, conducts simple hardware diagnostics, checks health of system files, checks relevant logs and then suggests troubleshooting methodology Windows
OS bootup problems.
The BSOD is as old as Microsoft. And it is their black eye. It is an emblem of their incompetence. We are in 2010 and we should not be victimized by such horrific display of hardware/software failure, which is very difficult to recover
from unless someone spends countless hours to resolve the matter.
If you don't try, you won't resolve whatever

I must follow TechHoncho.
Looking on the internet you will find a lot of similar issues where Windows 7 is hanging on ClassPnp.sys for apparently no reason at all.
I have a similar issue wherer we have reinstalled the system a number of times already, but time after time it blocks at a certain moment on this process. OR could it be the next process on which it hangs? Renaming the Classpnp.sys (from Win PE boot) didn't
help.
Where can we find which process will be the next to start?
And yes.. Why doesn't Microsoft provide a comprehensible tool that allows Administrators to debug this kind of issues?

Hello,
thought this might be of interest. Had a brand new Acer Aspire Notebook hanging at ClassPnp.sys and starting in safe mode, nor changing the SATA setting in BIOS, nor running system recovery did resolve the problem.
To safe the data on the HD, we removed the HD and downloaded the data files to another PC. Put the HD back into the laptop and started again - guess what, it resolved the problem and the Aspire notebook works perfectly.
